Event Essentials

April 20th & 21st, 2019 at Sheraton Hotel, Richmond, BC

Welcome to the Middle-earth SBG Grand Tournament at Wet Coast 2019! Below are the guidelines for preparing your army for this event, the event schedule, and rules for scoring. We hope you have fun meeting new players and enjoying some great games in Middle-earth.

Army Composition

Your army may consist of up to 800 points, using the army building rules found in the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Rules Manual. Profiles may be selected from ‘Armies of The Lord of the Rings’, ‘Armies of The Hobbit’, and/or ‘Gondor at War’.

Restrictions: No Impossible Allies. Models must be fully assembled but do not have to be painted. Please notify the TO before the date of the event if you are using proxies and/or non-GW models.

Submitting Your Army List

Please send your full army list to Jind Singh or Charles Lin via Facebook by April 12th, 2019. You will be provided with a printed copy of your army list at the event.

Please be on time and ready to start the next round in order to ensure you and your opponent have
enough time for your game! Each round runs for 2 hours. The TO will give a warning when 30
minutes remain in the round. Once time is up, you and your opponent may finish your turn.
The tournament consists of 5 scenarios, each of which can be found in the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Games Manual.

Round 1: Contest of Champions
Round 2: A Clash by Moonlight
Round 3: Hold Ground
Round 4: Fog of War
Round 5: Storm the Camp

Scoring Tournament Points

At the end of each round, players tally up and compare Victory Points. The player with the most VPs wins the round, or in the case of equal VPs, the game is a draw. However, you also need to calculate how many Tournament Points each player is awarded:

Prizes

Prizes are awarded to three winners: Best Overall, Favourite Army, and Best Sport.

  • Best Overall – The player who scored the highest amount of Tournament Points throughout the tournament. In the case of a tie, the player who scored the highest amount of Victory Points wins.
  • Favourite Army – The player who scored the most votes for their army! Each player may vote for their favourite army based on painting skill, theme, or simply by the rule of cool!
  • Best Sport – The player who scored the most votes for “Favourite Opponent”. In the event of a tie, there will be a roll-off!
